Anti Wrinkle Treatment

A convenient alternative to surgery, Botox® is used to reduce and relax frown lines, forehead lines and laughter lines around the eyes. The benefits of Botox injections typically last for three to four months and are visible within 7 to 10 days of treatment. Botox will give the face a smoother, more rested appearance. Some evidence suggests that with regular treatments, the effects may last longer and over time will mean you’ll need fewer visits.

The process

Wrinkle relaxing treatments involve injection of botulinum toxin into target muscles of the face to temporarily help them to relax. The Botox blocks the messages being sent from the nerves to the muscles, preventing the muscles from contracting and therefore softening facial expressions and reversing the signs of ageing by preventing new lines and wrinkles from developing.

Anti-wrinkle injections in crows feet area. This lady couldn't believe it. She hated the crows feet for a number of years and noticed it more in photos. Simple injections in the muscle around the eye help to reduce this in 2-4 days.

Dermal Fillers

As we get older our skin loses moisture, enabling lines and wrinkles to inevitably develop. Hyaluronic Acid is naturally present in our cells and is one of substances that keeps our skin smooth and supple. Dermal fillers consist of this acid and are injected to lift and smooth out facial lines. Dermal fillers can be targeted to specific areas of the face and be tailored to the individual. For example, deep lines from the nose to mouth may need a thick particle filler, injected deeper into the layers of the skin, but for fine lines around the mouth or eyes, a very fine particle filler would be best as this is injected more superficially.

The process

Dermal fillers involve an injection of Hyaluronic Acid gel to the cheeks, the temples, around the eyes and in the jawline areas, as well as in the lips. These all-important proteins give skin a more full and youthful appearance, lifting up and smoothing out lines. The gel then naturally and safely breaks down over a period of 5 to 12 months. This procedure is non-invasive, and patients can return to work after treatment without any noticeable side effects.

PRP / Vampire face lift

You've probably seen the photos on Instagram: A celebrity or influencer's face covered with blood splatter. No, it's not Halloween make-up, it's actually one of the latest treatment trends in skin care, also known as a "vampire facial”.  Celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Bar Refaeli, are fans of the facial, which might look quite scary, but boasts big-time results.

So, what is it and how does it work, exactly? Don't let the name fool you. It has nothing to do with vampires, so no need to carry garlic with you. In all seriousness, the treatment is a "combination of a microdermabrasion, followed by the application of PRP (platelet-rich plasma)," "The PRP is derived from the serum portion of the blood, which contains platelets. The platelets contain high levels of growth factors, which, when applied to the skin, will stimulate cell turnover."

PRP treatments have been used in the past to accelerate the healing of wounds and burnt skin and to help athletes recover from injury.  The treatment gives fantastic anti-aging results and can create a more youthful, naturally fuller face and brighter skin tone.

As a general rule to get maximum benefit 3 treatments at 4 weekly intervals are recommended and then once a year for maintenance.

In laymen's terms: It's a facial that essentially uses, "your own blood to help promote the healthy activity of your skin cells,”

Our blood is comprised of red blood cells and serum, which contain our white blood cells and platelets which are rich in growth factors, essentially acting as energy boots for our skin. This helps our skin function optimally, increasing everything from collagen to elastin, while also bringing antioxidant and hydrating properties.

Platelet-rich plasma is now commonly used topically as part of a regular facial, used along with micro needling to enhance penetration into the skin, and is even being injected into the skin in the same manner as dermal fillers,

The process

Sound serious? Well, it sort of is — since the treatment begins with venepuncture (a blood draw) to obtain the blood. But, contrary to popular belief, it's relatively painless — aside from the first needle pinch.

Typically, the process includes the initial blood draw, then running the blood through a centrifuge to isolate the platelets. You'll then receive micro needling or microdermabrasion just before your PRPs are slathered across your face. This can be accompanied with or without radio frequency, too. It sounds gory and mysterious, but in fact, it is central to our evolving understanding of the physiology of the skin and advanced techniques with which to improve the quality of the skin.

As for recovery, it might take a day or two of downtime before you're ready to hit the streets.  You may need one or two days, depending on how aggressive the microdermabrasion was on your skin. You'll emerge from treatment a bit red, almost like sunburn, which means post-procedure sunscreen is highly recommended. Applying makeup, though, is discouraged.

Are you a candidate?

Most likely, those with "premature wrinkles, high levels of solar damage, or anyone who wants an even tone and fresher appearance to their skin," is an ideal candidate for the procedure. However, if you have a history of blood diseases, including clotting or bleeding disorders, pregnant or suffer from skin disorders, you should not seek PRP treatment.

As far as risks go, there aren't as many as you might think. In fact, the only risk you really run is bruising at the time of the venepuncture. Aside from the discomfort of a blood draw and bruising from injection or micro needling. The vampire facial is "extremely safe, as it is your body's own blood being recycled."

How much does it cost?

Cost typically ranges, starting from £800.00(for three sessions), and the price will vary depending on your needs. Please also note that multiple treatments may be needed for optimal results and that treatments should be performed no more than once a month.
