What's the Difference Between Veneers and Bonding?

We always listen to what you want to achieve and aim to keep your smile natural and true to you. Usually dental veneers or dental bonding are used to achieve this look. Both treatments will improve your smile by masking imperfections but there are differences in the procedures, materials and cost.

You’ve probably heard of veneers; they are thin shells of porcelain that cover the front of each tooth (a bit like a false nail). These cover any gaps between the teeth and hide crooked, misshapen or stained teeth. The dentist needs to first reshape your teeth by removing some enamel to allow for the added thickness of the veneers. The veneers are made from moulded images to fit exactly over your teeth. It will usually take a few appointments with us to fit the veneers.

The other option that can be used to create this look is dental bonding. No we’re not just having a cup of tea together… this is a technique where your dentist will use a composite resin (similar to a white filling) to build up and shape the teeth, therefore hiding any imperfections. This can transform chipped or short teeth. The resin is matched to the colour of your teeth and applied freehand by your dentist. This method doesn’t have quite the same translucency of veneers, however; little or no teeth preparation is needed and it can be done in one visit.
