This lady had a lot of dentistry done over the years. When she came to us a few months ago, her remaining teeth were unrestorable. She was not happy with how they looked and was unable to chew food. After discussing all the options available, she decided to have all her remaining teeth removed and replaced with implants. We discussed the option of fixed implant bridges and removable overdentures - she chose the option of removable implants overdentures, primarily because of the ability to take them out to clean.
So, we extracted all the remaining teeth, placed the implants and made her a temporary set of teeth. Six months later, we converted that to a permanent, removable overdenture. Removable overdentures sit on the attachments which are connected to the implants, which then fit on to the inner side of the implant overdenture.
It’s a great option to chew food, patients don’t need any denture adhesives, and you have the advantage of removing it to clean as well! Best of both worlds!
