This lady was unhappy with her remaining upper teeth - she had some implants done on the lower arch in the past. She was keen to have a fixed implant solution and was not keen on wearing a denture - she had a partial denture which she was unhappy with. We removed the remaining failing upper teeth, five implants were placed in the upper arch, and we gave her a temporary-fixed implant bridge on the same day. Five months later, these were converted to the final prosthesis. She was delighted with the improvement it had made to her smile, her eating and her confidence.
Full arch implant rehabilitation has improved a lot in the last few years, especially with the evolution of digital technology and CBCT scans. We can pretty much make a fixed provisional in most cases on the same day as placing implants, so that people don’t have to walk away without having any teeth.
Exceptional oral hygiene maintenance and regular dental and hygienist visits are required - it’s a commitment to maintain any implant prosthesis. As long that is done, that is the best investment someone can make in their dental health.
